The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed concerns over a recent meeting between the Prime Minister of Armenia, the US Secretary of State, and the President of the European Commission. They view the gathering as an attempt to draw the South Caucasus into a geopolitical confrontation.

In a statement released on April 5th, Moscow accused Washington and Brussels of seeking to push Armenia out of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), remove Russian military bases and border guards, and use Armenia as a tool to further their dangerous plans in the region.

The Russian Foreign Ministry urged Yerevan to be cautious about Western influence and to stay true to their established principles. They emphasized that they were committed to deepening relations with Armenia based on these principles.

Regarding the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Moscow called for regional responsibility in addressing regional and bilateral issues in the South Caucasus. They urged foreign actors to respect agreements reached in Tehran and advised Yerevan to consider the concerns of neighboring states when making foreign policy decisions.
