Cricket veteran and former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad has recently disclosed that Shreyas Iyer was being nurtured to become a future skipper of the Indian cricket team. Despite missing out on a central contract from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) due to his absence from domestic cricket while on national duty, Iyer was recognized for his talent and leadership abilities.

Prasad highlighted that Iyer’s captaincy skills were observed early on, making him a prime candidate for the India captaincy post, alongside Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The selectors were considering either Iyer or Rishabh Pant for the leadership role, with Iyer standing out as a potential captain. Prasad also praised Iyer’s growth as a leader during his tenure as captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

With KKR providing him with valuable team management experience, Prasad believes that Iyer is on track to becoming a successful captain in the coming years. The selectors see potential in Iyer’s leadership skills and hope to see him excel in the role in the future.
