Running back Damien Harris, who played football for 20 years, announced his retirement on social media. He expressed gratitude for the privilege of representing his team on and off the field, competing at the highest level, winning championships, and being coached by legends like Nick Saban and Bill Belichick. Harris reflected on the people he met, places he visited, and impact he made through his experiences in the game.

Harris spent last season with the Bills but sustained a season-ending neck injury in Week 6. After much reflection, he made the decision to retire at the age of 27. Prior to his time with the Bills, he spent four years with the Patriots where he was originally drafted in the third round of the 2019 draft. Throughout his career, he accumulated 472 carries for 2,188 yards and 21 touchdowns.

Despite his love for the game, Harris acknowledged that it was time to walk away from football in order to prioritize his health and well-being. In his retirement announcement, Harris showed appreciation for all that football had provided him while expressing readiness to begin a new chapter in his life.
