The African Union’s theme for 2024 is “Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century,” and the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF) is aligning with this theme by inviting African States Parties to participate in the ninth edition of the international day under the theme “Safeguarding Africa’s Heritage through Education.” This invitation extends to heritage professionals and institutions, civil society organizations, local communities, and the youth.

To ensure that the celebrations reach as many people as possible, the AWHF is requesting information about programs and activities planned for this year’s event. The AWHF will showcase these events on their website and social media platforms. Please send relevant information to Ms. Precious Mothiba at preciousm@dbsa.org by April 26, 2024.

You can download a Call for Participation with a list of suggested activities and topics for this year’s African World Heritage Day celebrations. Share this information throughout your networks to encourage participation and engagement in the event.

Together, let us work towards safeguarding Africa’s heritage through education.
