Converse Basketball has recently signed Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to a multi-year shoe extension. In addition to becoming the face of the brand, Gilgeous-Alexander has also been appointed as the brand’s Creative Director. This new role will allow him to provide input and ideas for future product development.

Gilgeous-Alexander joins a select group of NBA players who have had signature shoes with Converse, a subsidiary of Nike. The list includes basketball legends such as Julius Erving, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Larry Johnson, Dennis Rodman, Dwyane Wade, and Elton Brand. After initially signing with Nike following his first-round draft selection from Kentucky in 2018, Gilgeous-Alexander made the move to Converse for the exclusive opportunity to express his personal style both on and off the court.

As Gilgeous-Alexander prepares for the upcoming NBA playoffs with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team is currently awaiting to find out their first-round opponent. As the top seed in the Western Conference, Oklahoma City will face either the New Orleans Pelicans or Sacramento Kings in the series set to begin on Sunday night.
