The World Video Game Hall of Fame induction ceremony is returning to the Strong National Museum of Play in person for the first time since 2019. The event will take place on May 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the new rotunda.
The 2024 Hall of Fame class has been announced, and this year’s finalists come from four different decades of gaming. Atari Asteroids, which was played on coin-fed consoles in arcades in the 1970s, and Guitar Hero, which gave living-room rockers the chance to compete on a plastic guitar when it was released in 2005, are among the nominees.
Other games being considered for induction into the Hall of Fame include Elite, Metroid, SimCity, and Ultima from the 1980s, as well as titles like Myst, Neopets, Resident Evil, Tokimeki Memorial, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, and You Don’t Know Jack from the 1990s.
