In a major announcement, Boviet Solar, a Vietnamese-based company, has unveiled its plans to build its first North American solar panel manufacturing plant in eastern North Carolina. The plant is expected to create over 900 jobs and will be located in Greenville, just 85 miles east of Raleigh.

Boviet CEO Jimmy Xie expressed pride in bringing the company’s manufacturing excellence to the largest solar market in North America. The plant will help increase Boviet’s capacity worldwide for high-end solar panels and photovoltaic modules. The state Commerce Department revealed that the company also considered alternative locations for the plant in Phoenix and Atlanta before settling on Greenville.

The state of North Carolina has been attracting foreign investment in recent years, with VinFast, another Vietnamese company, also building a plant in Chatham County. This influx of investment demonstrates the state’s growing appeal as a hub for international companies looking to expand their operations in the United States.

Boviet specializes in making solar panels and photovoltaic cells that are currently used by commercial, industrial, and residential customers in the U.S. The company has offices in Germany, China, and the U.S., and this new facility will help increase its capacity worldwide for high-end products.

The Greenville plant is expected to create 908 jobs by 2028, with an average annual salary of $52,879, slightly above the Pitt County average. This investment will contribute significantly to the state’s economy and create new opportunities for local residents.
