Boston College standout player Cutter Gauthier, known for his scoring prowess, has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks. Gauthier, who scored the most goals in the NCAA in the last 25 years, is expected to make his NHL debut on Thursday as the Ducks finish their season against Vegas.
Gauthier’s rights were acquired from Philadelphia in exchange for defenseman Jamie Drysdale and a 2025 second-round pick. He was the fifth overall pick by the Flyers in the 2022 NHL draft, but Philadelphia traded him after he refused to sign, train, or communicate with the team.
Known for his scoring prowess, Gauthier’s 38 goals tied with Ryan Potulny for the most by a collegiate player in the last 25 seasons. He also led the NCAA in game-winning goals, ranked second in points, and tied for second in power-play goals.
In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Gauthier was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given to the top player in college hockey. He helped Boston College reach the NCAA title game, where they lost 2-0 to Denver.
