Armed with a nail brush, 19-year-old Nigerian woman, Lisah Dachor recently attempted to break the world record for painting the most nails in 72 hours. She painted over 4,000 nails in various colors at an events center in Plateau state, northern Nigeria. Her three-day marathon came to an end on Wednesday, and now she is waiting for the Guinness World Record (GWR) to review her attempt.

Lisah Dachor decided to take on this challenge to change the narrative about teen mothers like herself and give them hope. She has been working as a professional nail technician for almost three years and also wants to highlight women from northern Nigeria. She hopes that her record attempt will put Plateau, her home state, on the map.

Plateau is where Nigeria’s mainly Muslim north meets the largely Christian south, and has faced decades of insecurity and conflict between different ethnic and religious groups. Despite this, Dachor received support from all ethnic groups during her record attempt. She believes that Plateau is a beautiful place beyond its ethnic issues and wants to showcase its positivity to the world.

The GWR rules state that in order for Dachor’s attempt to count, she must paint 60 fingernails per hour. Lisah hopes that her evidence will soon be ratified by GWR so she can become a world record holder.
