U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell of Alabama’s 7th district is hosting a virtual discussion on Monday, April 29th at 3 p.m. CDT to kick off National Small Business Week. During the event, titled “Sipping on Success: The Story of Selma’s Award-Winning Small Business Owner Jackie Smith,” Ms. Jackie Smith will be sharing her journey as the owner of The Coffee Shoppe in Selma and receiving the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2024 Phoenix Award for Outstanding Disaster Recovery Efforts at a special ceremony in Washington D.C. next week.

Rep. Sewell and Ms. Smith will be highlighting the challenges that Ms. Smith has faced as a small business owner and how crucial small businesses are to our economy during the virtual discussion, which will be streamed live on Sewell’s official Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages.

The U.S. Small Business Administration has been celebrating National Small Business Week for over 60 years to recognize the contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners to our economy. This year, National Small Business Week takes place from April 28th to May 4, 2024, honoring the hard work, creativity, and dedication of small businesses and their impact on our communities.

Throughout National Small Business Week, we celebrate not only the achievements of small businesses but also provide resources and support to help them continue growing and thriving in our communities for years to come.
