Sarah Reynosa, the owner of Fuego Street Tacos, has stated that high rent was the driving force behind her business leaving Reno Public Market. Despite raising concerns with management, she was met with a suggestion that she was mismanaging her business. Reynosa insists that this is not the case and that the high rent made it impossible for her to sustain her business. In an effort to keep costs down, she and her team worked tirelessly, even reducing staff and seeking the best prices for food. Despite their efforts, they ultimately could not afford the rent.
One of the suggestions given by RPM management to Reynosa was to increase prices at her establishment so that she could cover the rent. However, in response to businesses leaving or shutting down, RPM released a statement acknowledging that turnover in merchants is a normal part of the business cycle, especially in a place like the Food Hall where businesses may be testing new concepts. The statement also highlighted that customer preferences are constantly evolving, and RPM is committed to evaluating new experiences and offerings to meet these changing needs.
Reno Public Market opened its doors last year and has become a destination for dining, shopping, and entertainment. The property management did not comment on individual businesses publicly out of respect for the merchants but expressed appreciation for all businesses that have partnered with them and those who are planning to join.
