Duke point guard Jeremy Roach announced on social media that he will be entering the transfer portal after spending four seasons with the Blue Devils. Despite his departure, Duke has returning guards Caleb Foster and Tyrese Proctor, making it likely that the team will look to add another guard through the transfer portal after losing Jared McCain to the NBA Draft.

Roach, a former five-star prospect, started 108 games under coaches Mike Krzyzewski and Jon Scheyer. Although he is leaving Duke, Roach’s departure is not a blow for the team as they have a strong recruiting class coming in. However, none of the six commitments are traditional on-ball guards, making Roach a valuable addition to any team.

Roach will have one season of eligibility remaining in the 2024 transfer cycle after earning third-team All-ACC honors during the 2023-4 season. He averaged 14 points and 3.3 assists per game with an impressive 42.9% 3-point shooting percentage during his time at Duke. Roach had a successful career at Duke, highlighted by his performance in the 2022 NCAA Tournament where he helped lead the Blue Devils to the Final Four in Krzyzewski’s last season as coach. His ability to score efficiently in high-pressure situations made him a valuable asset to the team.
