The Henderson Police Department has recently introduced new technology to enforce red light violations in the city. Red light indicators have been installed at 12 strategic intersections throughout Henderson, including Boulder and Lake Mair, Boulder and Horizon, Sunset and Marks, Sunset and Stephanie, Stephanie and Warm Springs, St. Rose and Eastern, St. Rose and Raiders Way, Eastern and Horizon Ridge, and Horizon Ridge and Green Valley.

These intersections were chosen based on factors such as traffic volume, public complaints, and accident data. Sgt. Roger Matuszak explained that the new LED lights allow officers to safely identify red light violators from a distance. The indicators change color when the signal switches to red, making it easier for officers to enforce without disrupting the flow of traffic.

The technology aims to improve safety for both officers and drivers by reducing accidents in the community. The Henderson Police Department has been testing the red light indicators for over a month now and is hopeful that they will have a positive impact on road safety. The project was made possible through a grant from the Clark County Office of Public Safety.

The department plans to collect data on the effectiveness of the indicators and potentially expand their use to more intersections in the future if they prove successful. This technology has the potential to improve road safety by encouraging drivers to follow traffic laws more effectively.

If successful, Henderson officials may consider installing these indicators at additional intersections citywide in order to further improve road safety for all residents of the area.
