The Minnesota Twins have welcomed back shortstop Carlos Correa, who has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list. He missed 16 games due to a strained right rib cage muscle. Despite not needing a rehabilitation assignment, Correa is now ready to rejoin the team as they face the Chicago White Sox in a three-game series.
To make room for Correa on the roster, the Twins have optioned multi-position player Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul. In his 22 games with the team, Martin batted .226 with 16 runs, six doubles, six walks, two steals, and one home run. With Correa back in the lineup, the Twins are looking forward to having his offensive production and defensive skills on the field once again.
Before his injury, Correa had a strong start to the season, batting .306 with two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, and eight walks in 11 games. While he was out of action for several weeks, Willi Castro filled in at shortstop for most of the games. However, now that he’s healthy again, Correa is eager to get back into action and contribute to his team’s success.
