In a significant move towards enhancing childbirth services in the local community, Cooper Farms has generously donated $50,000 towards the new Obstetrician Room that will be a part of Mercer Health’s Childbirth Center expansion and renovation. The project, which is aimed at providing a safer space for cesarean procedures, additional space for increasing births, an enhanced nursery for unique situations, and continued quality childbirth services, is set to receive funding from various sources.

The Delivering on a Promise campaign, which supports the project, was started last summer when the Walter and Evelyn Braun Family made a generous $1 million donation. Additional donations totaling over $600,000 have been made to the MED Foundation in support of the project. Deb Hemmelgarn, the Director of the MED Foundation and Volunteer Services at Mercer Health emphasizes the importance of a successful campaign to ensure adequate funds for the project.

Hemmelgarn highlights the significance of the project by stating that childbirth centers are closing in Ohio and across the nation due to lack of funding and commitment from communities. However, Mercer Health is enhancing its services due to its commitment to the community and its ability to attract funding from generous donors like Cooper Farms. With an increasing number of births each year, additional space is required to accommodate the growing demand for childbirth services.
