The Momentous Institute is set to host a free panel and launch a toolkit aimed at helping families navigate the mental health crisis. The institute’s Executive Director, Dr. Jessica Gomez, is passionate about addressing mental health issues and reducing the stigma associated with it. Despite increased attention on mental health, there is still a need for improved access to services and educational opportunities.

Dr. Gomez highlighted the prevalence rates of mental illness in the state and the lack of access to care, ranking last among all states. She emphasized the importance of elevating the conversation around mental health and promoting strategies to cultivate mental wellness.

The institute will be hosting a free event on April 30th at 5:30 pm at Collin College Frisco Campus, where attendees can learn more about the root causes of the mental health crisis. Additionally, participants will have a chance to win tickets to attend the CJ Cup Byron Nelson golf tournament, where players will be showing their support for mental health awareness by wearing green ribbons on their bibs. In place of their names, players and caddies will display ways they maintain their own mental wellness.

Overall, this event aims to bring awareness and education about mental health issues while also providing practical tools for families navigating this crisis.
