The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is currently seeking applicants for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Psychological Science with a focus on African-centered or Black Psychology. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in Psychological Science and should incorporate this field into their teaching, research, and service. They must also have experience working with African American or African diasporic communities using a community-based participatory approach.

Applicants whose research covers areas such as culture, mental health disparities education, positive youth development, family science, racial identity, racial stress and trauma, diversity science, and intergroup relations are encouraged to apply. Candidates should also have experience with multi-disciplinary, interdisciplinary or collaborative research and be committed to creating student-centered and active learning environments. The position will be located in the Africana Studies Department with the possibility of teaching cross-listed courses with the Psychology Department and School of Social Work. The successful candidate will teach five courses per academic year, including one or two introductory courses each semester.
