The UAlbany men’s lacrosse team is ready to continue their journey to South Bend after winning the America East championship and securing an automatic qualifier for the NCAA tournament. In their first game this season, the Great Danes will face Sacred Heart in the opening round at Casey Stadium.

Coach Marr knows that they have a tough opponent ahead of them, but he emphasizes the importance of respecting their competition and staying focused. Jake Piseno, a graduate long-stick midfielder, expressed his team’s desire to spend more time together and make it to South Bend.

This matchup between UAlbany and Sacred Heart will be the first ever meeting between these two teams. The Pioneers earned their first trip to the NCAA tournament after going undefeated in the MAAC and winning the conference title.

Coach Marr addressed his team during practice to ensure they were prepared for this upcoming game. UAlbany has made 11 appearances in the NCAA tournament before this one, with their last appearance coming in 2018. They secured their 10th America East title by defeating Vermont in the championship game.

The winner of this matchup will face Notre Dame, who is ranked number one overall and defending national champions, in South Bend in the first round on Wednesday at Casey Stadium. The focus now is on being 1-0 in their next game.
