The innovative Newlab at Michigan Central in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood officially opened its doors in April 2023. Located next to the Ford train station, this facility embodies the city’s story of revitalization and transformation. Originally constructed from the remains of a crumbling book depository, Newlab is now home to 90 startups operating in various industries, including EV off-road vehicles and smart wheels designed for warehouse logistics. With a goal of helping entrepreneurs reduce the development cycle time for their products, CEO Cameron Lawrence is leading efforts to establish Detroit as a hub for technology and innovation.
