Todd Stottlemyer, CEO of Acentra Health, commended Verlon Johnson’s appointment as chair of the Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC). The appointment is in addition to her reappointment for a second consecutive 3-year term as a MACPAC commissioner. Johnson expressed her deep humility and honor at being recognized alongside such an exceptional team of commissioners and staff.

As the Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Acentra Health, Johnson is responsible for overseeing the company’s growth strategy, including organic growth and acquisitions. Prior to her role at Acentra Health, she served as the vice president of healthcare policy and management at IBM Watson Health’s government health and human services business group. She is known as a nationally recognized expert in government healthcare programs, having previously served in federal positions before joining Acentra Health.

MACPAC was established in 2009 to provide guidance to Congress, the Health and Human Services Department Secretary, and states on policy and access issues related to Medicaid and CHIP. Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) praised Johnson’s contributions as a MACPAC Commissioner, noting that her expertise has been valuable to Congress in addressing issues related to these programs. Verlon Johnson expressed her gratitude for this opportunity to continue serving on the MACPAC Commission and emphasized the importance of collaborating with the group to enhance Medicaid and CHIP programs that are vital for millions of people.
