New Weight Loss Injection Vigobi Comes to Israel
Vigobi, a new weight loss injection, is now available in Israel. It contains a substance similar to the GLP1 hormone, which has a multi-systemic effect on the body. The drug slows down the motility of the stomach, increases feelings of satiety, lowers blood sugar levels, reduces inflammatory processes, and also reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Two weeks ago, it was reported in Maariv for the first time that Vigobi was coming to Israel. This week, it was published that the Ministry of Health ordered patients to stop prescribing Ozempic and instead gradually transfer them to Vigobi. Pharmacies across the country are reporting a flood of inquiries and orders for the new injection.
Vigobi is given by injection into the abdominal area once a week, starting with an initial dose of 0.25 mg and gradually increasing to a final effective dose of 2.4 mg. The cost of the low-dose injection is NIS 600, while the high-dose injection costs NIS 1,250. While the drug is only sold through a private doctor’s prescription, there is no requirement for doctors to prescribe it. Instead, they are left to use their personal judgment when deciding whether or not to prescribe Vigobi to their patients.
