A recent survey conducted by Sacred Heart University has revealed that many Americans are concerned about the lack of health insurance or inadequate coverage, as well as shortages of healthcare professionals. The survey also showed that people tend to prefer political candidates who advocate for sustainable healthcare policies.

The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, currently provides affordable health coverage to 45 million workers and their families. Additionally, Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program offer coverage to over 80 million Americans, including 861,000 Nevadans. Despite these efforts to expand healthcare coverage, House Republicans are expected to propose budget cuts of $4.5 trillion from the ACA, Medicaid, and CHIP.

President Donald Trump has expressed his desire to “terminate Obamacare,” which has raised concerns about the potential impact on millions of Americans and Nevadans who rely on affordable healthcare. It is crucial to safeguard and strengthen access to healthcare for all individuals.

Senator Jacky Rosen has shown support for legislation that aims to address the shortage of physicians in rural areas and increase the number of nursing faculty through the Specialty Advancing Rural Care Act and Train More Nurses Act, respectively. The Nevada legislature has also passed bills to support nursing education, and Governor Joe Lombardo signed an executive order to tackle the shortage of healthcare workers.

It is important for Nevadans to stand behind candidates and policies that prioritize healthcare accessibility, stay informed about healthcare issues in the state Assembly, recognize the contributions of healthcare workers, and encourage individuals who have a passion for helping others to pursue a career in healthcare. Dr Joseph Holomuzki advocates for this cause by writing articles like this one that informs people about current issues in healthcare in Carson City
