Milwaukee NBC affiliate, WTMJ-TV (Channel 4), has let go of longtime sports anchor Lance Allan, cutting a year off his contract. After spending 28 years at Channel 4, Allan expressed his excitement for the future as he becomes a pending free agent. In a video shared on social media, he announced the news and mentioned his plans to remain part of the Milwaukee community.
Allan’s journey in broadcasting began when he joined Channel 4 in 1996 at the age of 25. Prior to that, he worked at WJFW-TV in Rhinelander and WFRV-TV in Green Bay. He is originally from Rice Lake and studied broadcast journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also interned at WMTV-TV in Madison. Allan’s departure from Channel 4 sparked a reaction on social media, particularly from his fellow Milwaukee sportscasters.
Despite no immediate comments from Scripps-owned Channel 4 in response to inquiries, Allan’s followers flooded social media with messages of support and well wishes for his future endeavors. As he embarks on his next chapter, Allan remains optimistic and eager to see what lies ahead.
