Jaromír Jágr, 52 years old and in his 36th professional season with Rytíři Kladno, took to the ice on Thursday and set a new record as the oldest professional hockey player. Previously held by Gordie Howe, who played his final NHL game at the age of 52 years, 11 days old, Jágr’s career began with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1990. He scored in a 7-2 win over VHK Vsetín in Game 2 of their playoff relegation series, giving Kladno a commanding 2-0 lead.

Jágr’s accomplishments in the NHL are impressive – he ranks second all-time in scoring and fourth in goals scored. However, he has been playing intermittently with Kladno since leaving the Calgary Flames in 2018. Despite this, Jágr’s enduring career and continued success serve as a testament to his dedication and passion for the game of hockey. During his time in Pittsburgh, a planned bobblehead night was canceled after the shipment of giveaways was stolen during delivery.
