The Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Awards have been presented to seventeen University of Cincinnati student-athletes, who have earned the recognition for their outstanding academic performance and athletic ability. Eleven of the honorees are women’s student-athletes, with basketball and soccer leading the way with three each.
The awards program, inspired by tennis legend Arthur Ashe Jr.’s commitment to education and his love for the game of tennis, is open to U.S. colleges and universities that wish to participate. In addition to their athletic prowess and academic achievements, Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars demonstrate a commitment to community service and student leadership.

Notable among the awardees include Jordan Young and Ken Willis from football, Viktor Lakhin from men’s basketball, Dani Mlkvy from lacrosse, and Mia Hensley from women’s swimming and diving, among others.
