On Wednesday, Iranian Air Force Commander Brigadier General Hamid Vahedi issued a stern warning, stating that they have Russian Sukhoi Su-24 fighter jets at the ready to strike targets in case of any strategic errors by the enemy. This implied reference to possible retaliation by Israel comes amidst rising tensions following an attack on Iran by Israel involving missiles and drones in response to the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisí has already warned that a large-scale action would decimate the Israeli regime, despite Israel’s claims that their operation was limited and not comprehensive. The situation highlights the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region, with Iran’s military making it clear that they are prepared to defend themselves against any perceived threats.

The warning from Vahedi emphasizes their readiness to hit targets, particularly using the Sukhoi-24 aircraft. However, Iran has been limited in acquiring new fighters for its Air Force since 1979, relying on older Russian and American aircraft. While plans to purchase Russian Sukhoi Su-35 jets were announced last year, there has been no update on their delivery.

The situation underscores the potential consequences of escalation in the conflict between Iran and its adversaries. It is crucial for all parties involved to exercise caution and avoid further actions that could lead to a dangerous escalation of violence in an already volatile region.

Overall, this warning serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with military tension and conflict, particularly when it involves nuclear powers such as Iran and Israel. It is important for diplomatic efforts to continue working towards finding peaceful solutions rather than resorting to military force or threats of violence.
