The opening round of the 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship took place in Spain, specifically in Albaida during the GP of Comunitat Valenciana. In this highly anticipated race, French rider Thomas Chareyre emerged victorious, riding a Honda CRF450R. Chareyre faced tough competition from Mark Reiner Schmidt of Germany, who held the number-one plate and was on a TM bike. Despite their close battle, Chareyre claimed the overall win.

Schmidt finished as the runner-up and was closely followed by KTM rider Julen Avila Cortes of Spain who finished third overall. Italian Elia Sammartin and Spanish rider Ferran Cardus rounded out the top five positions in the championship’s first round.

The SuperMoto Legends class also saw some intense action with Czech rider Petr Vorlicek clinching victory on a Honda. Great Britain’s Jay Smith on KTM and Scott Murray on Honda finished closely behind in second and third place respectively. Mark Reiner Schmidt from Germany finished as the runner-up in this class as well.

The next round of the 2024 FIM Supermoto World Championship is scheduled for May 25-26 in Sardegna, Italy. Stay tuned for more updates and results as this exciting championship continues to unfold.
