In Chicago, a new exhibit has opened its doors to visitors with a focus on mental health and emotional exploration. Located in the Water Tower building, the exhibit is designed to prompt introspection and provide a transformative experience for those who attend. The creator of this 5,000-square-foot interactive art installation, Janine Williams, drew inspiration from her personal journey with mental health to create the space.
Upon entering the exhibit, guests are greeted by a disco ball dreamland featuring a 360-degree photo booth that sets the tone for their emotional journey. At the heart of the exhibit is an interactive Mood Room where visitors are guided through exercises meant to prompt reflection and emotional processing. Carefully curated colors throughout the space aim to influence and amplify emotional experiences.
Williams, who struggled with depression, wanted to create a safe and colorful space for individuals like herself to tap into their emotions in a fun way. The exhibit also features a Secret Garden for visitors to discover and Kites Ice Diner, showcasing artist Kristopher Kites’ works from Chicago’s South Side.
