A man was apprehended in Hialeah for smashing gaming machines at a café and absconding with cash. Otniel Rodriguez, 40, stands accused of burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief in relation to this incident. According to law enforcement officials, Rodriguez entered the Rainbow Café wearing a disguise and proceeded to wield an axe to destroy three gaming machines. Despite attempts by another individual to halt him, Rodriguez persisted in his destructive actions.

The authorities reported that Rodriguez made off with $7,000 in cash during the incident. This is not the first time Rodriguez has been involved in crimes related to gaming machines. On February 29th, he was also implicated in a similar offense at a Hialeah gas station.

The owners of the Rainbow Café expressed their gratitude for the prompt action and arrest made by the Hialeah police department. Rodriguez appeared before a Miami-Dade bond court judge on Wednesday, where he remained in custody. No information about his attorney was available at the time of writing.

This incident serves as a stark reminder that businesses must remain vigilant when it comes to securing their premises and monitoring their surroundings to prevent such incidents from occurring again. The arrest of Rodriguez demonstrates the critical role that law enforcement plays in ensuring public safety and protecting businesses within our community.
