Residents of a Northglenn neighborhood came together to celebrate a recent agreement reached between the City of Northglenn and the state regarding a proposed mental health transitional living home. The facility, located at 11255 and 11275 Grant Drive, had been a topic of concern for community members who expressed worries about its location and operation. Following weeks of speaking out against it, the city announced that they had reached an agreement with the state to address some of the community’s concerns.

In mid-March, a letter from the City of Northglenn explained the project and the types of patients being considered for the facility, including sex offenders. After a virtual meeting between city staff members and state officials, Northglenn Mayor Meredith Leighty also spoke with the state separately via phone. The agreed-upon resolution included the state’s commitment to not house sex offenders at the facility, to maintain a 1,000-foot distance requirement from schools in Northglenn, and to work with neighbors on the installation of a taller fence behind the property.

Residents like Danielle Luciano, who lives near the site, expressed relief at the outcome and emphasized the importance of community involvement in influencing decisions. The city clarified that this is a two-year pilot program, with
