The Minnesota boys basketball state tournament is underway at Target Center and Williams Arena. The Class A quarterfinals are being held at Target Center, while the AAA and AAAA semifinals games are taking place at Williams Arena. The Class A and AA semifinals will be played on Friday, followed by all four classes competing on Championship Saturday. Stay tuned throughout the day for updates on the tournament.

On Day 2 of the tournament, there were some exciting matchups in the Class A quarterfinals. Top-ranked Cherry (29-2) had a blowout win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (23-8), with Isaac Asuma leading the way with 20 points for Cherry. Meanwhile, Nevis (17-14) had an impressive win over Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey (13-18), with Isaiah Asuma scoring 26 points and Noah Sundquist adding 16 for Nevis. In other quarterfinal games, Heritage Christian Academy (15-18) lost to West Central Area (25-9), while Goodhue (9-23) faced Fertile-Beltrami (7-25).

In the Class AAA semifinals, top seed Totino-Grace (25-5) had a hard-fought win over DeLaSalle (20-9), with a final score of 74 – 67. Isaiah Johnson Arigu put in a standout performance for Totino Grace, scoring 28 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. In the second semifinal game, Mankato East vs Alexandria Area will take place later today.

The Class AAAA semifinals will also be held at Williams Arena, featuring Wayzata (28 – 1) against Cretin Derham Hall (24 – 4), and Minnetonka (22 – 6) going up against Eagan(17 – 12). Both games are expected to be highly competitive as teams vie for a spot in the championship game.

Overall, Day 1 of the tournament delivered thrilling games across all classes. Notable results included Wayzata defeating Rogers, Cretin Derham Hall edging out Farmington, and Eagan pulling off an upset against Park Center in Class AAAA quarterfinals . In Class AA quarterfinals Albany , Lake City , Breck ,and Minnehaha Academy booked their spots in the semifinals .
