The upcoming US Major League Baseball season will begin in Japan on March 19 and 20, according to the Japanese baseball commissioner. While no official announcement has been made by Nippon Professional Baseball officials, reports suggest that the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs could be the teams participating in these opening games.

The specific location for these games has not been decided yet, as stated by Sadayuki Sakakibara of the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization. Sakakibara recently met with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred in South Korea to discuss the plans for these games. According to Sakakibara, Manfred expressed interest in having teams that would deliver high-quality baseball for these opening games.

Shohei Ohtani, a Japanese superstar who currently plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers alongside pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, is expected to play a big role in this series. Ohtani’s popularity in Japan has contributed to the high level of interest in these upcoming games.

Sakakibara emphasized that nothing has been finalized at this moment and that the series is expected to be a landmark event for baseball fans in Japan and around the world.
