In a shocking announcement, AEE Solar, an equipment distributor, has revealed that they will be shutting down their doors on May 3, 2024. The company, originally founded in 1979 as Alternative Energy Engineering by solar enthusiast David Katz in Redway, California, has since expanded to become a significant player in the residential market in California.

Over the years, AEE Solar has provided off-grid equipment and other products to customers across the state. However, in 2014, the company was acquired by Sunrun, along with SnapNrack. While this change may have brought about new opportunities for the company, it seems that AEE Solar’s time has come to an end.

In a message to their customers about the closure, AEE Solar recommends reaching out to their territory sales manager for potential opportunities to purchase directly from SnapNrack in the future. This news is sure to be a disappointment for many customers who have relied on AEE Solar’s products and services over the years.

Just last year, AEE Solar opened a massive 140,000-ft2 distribution center in Visalia, California. This move was seen as a commitment to serving their customers with excellence until the very end. Unfortunately, it appears that this commitment may not have been enough to prevent the closure of the company.
