The Skirball Puppet Festival is set to take place on Sunday, April 28th from noon to 5 p.m. at the Skirball Cultural Center. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $15 for seniors/students, and $13 for children aged 2 to 17. While advance tickets have sold out, walk-up admissions may be available for this fun and exciting event.

April is known as a special month for puppets in Los Angeles, with the Bob Baker Day celebration taking place on April 21st at the Los Angeles State Historic Park and the Skirball Puppet Festival following on April 28th. While some may think National Puppet Day on March 21st is a better occasion, these two events offer unique experiences for puppet enthusiasts in the city.

The day at the Skirball Cultural Center will feature a variety of puppet performances from renowned puppeteers like the Bob Baker Marionettes, Blackstreet USA Theatre, The Zuppeteers, and more. Live music and interactive activities like learning about the art of puppetry by the Rogue Artists Ensemble’s Shadow Lab will also be featured.

The Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry will be present at the event, offering a diverse range of experiences for visitors. The guild is dedicated to promoting and preserving puppetry art in Los Angeles and beyond through workshops, performances, and exhibitions throughout the year.

The theme for this year’s festival is “A World of Dreams,” which ties nicely with Maurice Sendak’s exhibition that recently opened at the cultural center. Every month is considered Puppet Month by the guild, offering a variety of opportunities for enthusiasts throughout the year.

Overall, this festival promises to be an unforgettable experience for all ages who love puppetry art.
