Uganda has just qualified for its first appearance in a senior men’s ICC World Cup in any format. The team, led by captain Brian Masaba, will compete in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in the USA and the West Indies. This marks a significant milestone for the team, as they have never before participated in a major international tournament.

Masaba will be joined by a squad of 15 players, including Frank Nsubuga, an offspinning allrounder who will be the oldest player in the tournament at 43 years old. Riazat Ali Shah has been named as the vice-captain, while Ronald Lutaaya and Innocent Mwebaze will serve as traveling reserve players for the team.

Uganda qualified for the tournament alongside Namibia from the Africa leg of the qualifiers, beating out teams like Zimbabwe to earn a spot in Group C. They will face off against Afghanistan in their first match on June 4th in Providence, Guyana. The full squad for the tournament includes Masaba (capt), Ali Shah (vc), Kenneth Waiswa, Dinesh Nakrani, Nsubuga, Ronak Patel, Roger Mukasa, Cosmas Kyewuta, Bilal Hassun, Fred Achelam, Robinson Obuya, Simon Ssesazi, Henry Ssenyondo, Alpesh Ramjani and Juma Miyaji.
