PBS’ National Memorial Day Concert, hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise, is set to celebrate its 35th anniversary on May 26. The event, held on the west lawn of the Capitol, honors members of the military and their families through music and storytelling.

The concert features several segments dedicated to different aspects of military service. A tribute to World War II will be presented by Bryan Cranston and highlight U.S. Army veteran John T. “Jack” Moran. In another segment, BD Wong will share the story of Vietnam veteran Allen Hoe and his family’s legacy of service in a remembrance of Gold Star families.

The challenges faced by veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan will be featured in another segment, with U.S. Marine Corps veteran Kirstie Ennis sharing her experiences. Performances by Cynthia Erivo, Gary LeVox, and others will also be included in the concert program. The Salute to Services with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Service Color Teams will round off the show.

The concert will be broadcast on PBS and American Forces Network as well as streamed online for viewers to enjoy from home or wherever they may be located worldwide during this special day that honors our fallen heroes who gave their lives in defense of freedom and democracy for all people around the world. It is a co-production between Michael Colbert from Capital Concerts and WETA Washington Dc., making it an exceptional event that celebrates our nation’s heroes while bringing them closer to us through music, storytelling, and performances that honor their sacrifices made for our country’s safety
