The Valley City State University (VCSU) Trap Club recently participated in the North Dakota State Collegiate Trap Shoot on April 27. During the event, Kaden Schafer, a freshman majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences, won first place in the Male Singles Trap competition with a remarkable score of 93 out of 100.

VCSU’s top shooters for the day included Schafer, Logan Heen, Brooke Gaudry, Grant Larson, and Derek Jacobs. Despite the challenging windy conditions, these competitors demonstrated their exceptional skills and determination.

Dr. Nick Galt, club advisor and professor at VCSU, expressed great excitement about the event and praised the competitiveness of the sport. He highlighted how wonderful it was to compete against other collegiate teams in the region and emphasized that this experience would only strengthen their skills and prepare them for future events.

As part of its ongoing commitment to promoting sportsmanship and athletic excellence, VCSU plans to introduce an intercollegiate Shooting Sports team in the upcoming fall season.
