Valley High School has emerged victorious in the South Central Ohio Regional Science Bowl, marking their second win in the last three years. The competition, organized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), saw participation from 18 schools and 32 teams across Scioto, Pike, Ross, and Jackson counties.

The National Science Bowl, now in its 34th year, has engaged over 344,000 students and is one of the largest science competitions in the country. Portsmouth Site Lead Jeremy Davis commended all the participating students for their dedication and congratulated Valley High School on their victory. The school will now move on to represent the region in the National Finals Tournament in Washington, DC, from April 25th to 29th.

Valley Coach Justin Howard expressed excitement over the win and praised the hard work of the school’s teams. Minford’s team 2 secured second place in the competition, while Valley’s team one and Northwest’s team 2 reached the semi-finals. More than 60 volunteers from various organizations rendered their support as moderators, time-keepers, rules judges, and runners to ensure the smooth running of the event.
