John Alfred Tinniswood, a 111-year-old Englishman from Liverpool, has been named the world’s oldest man by Guinness World Records. He attributes his longevity to a combination of luck, moderation, and his weekly tradition of eating fish and chips. Tinniswood served in the British Army Pay Corps during World War II and currently resides at a care home in Southport, England.

Tinniswood is a firm believer in the importance of moderation in maintaining good health. He abstains from smoking, drinking excessively, and following any specific diets, aside from his love for fish and chips on Fridays. According to him, balance is key to avoiding health problems, as excessive consumption of anything can lead to complications. He also acknowledges that luck plays a significant role in determining one’s lifespan. Some people live long lives while others do not have the same opportunities.

Another inspiration to many is Maria Branyas Morera of Spain, who is currently 117 years old and holds the title of the world’s oldest woman and living person. Tinniswood’s story serves as a reminder that life experiences and historical events are essential components of a long and fulfilling life.
