Audi Brussels is facing closure and the loss of 3,000 jobs after the company announced the elimination of all 371 temporary positions in Vorst due to decreased demand for the Audi Q8 e-tron. This has raised concerns among unions about the factory’s future, especially since its successor will be produced in Mexico rather than in Forest.

To address these concerns, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo has called for a meeting with the governments of our country and top management at Audi on Friday. The aim is to find solutions to keep the factory operational and protect the jobs of its employees.

The task force that De Croo is forming with regional prime ministers and a delegation from Audi leadership will explore all possible options to prevent the closure of Audi Brussels. These may include training support for new model development, subsidies, energy bill reductions, and adjustments to investment deductions. The government is also considering providing guarantees to Audi through a letter of intent, which can be implemented even by a caretaker government ahead of the upcoming elections on June 9.

While the future of Audi Brussels remains uncertain, efforts are being made to find solutions that will keep the factory operational and secure the future of its employees.
