The French baguette has been a staple of French cuisine for centuries, but recently, French bakers have taken their love for the classic loaf to new heights. During an event organized by the French confederation of bakers and pastry chefs in Suresnes, a suburb of Paris, these skilled artisans created a world record-breaking baguette that measured 140.53 meters in length.

The feat was achieved with the help of a large rotating oven and the tireless efforts of the bakers who kneaded and shaped the dough before placing it in the specially-built slow-moving oven on wheels. Anthony Arrigault, one of the bakers involved in the process, expressed his excitement when the baguette was officially approved by a Guinness World Records judge. “Everyone involved was thrilled to have achieved this milestone in France,” he said.

The freshly baked baguette had to maintain a thickness of at least 5 cm throughout its length and was partially cut and shared with the public. The remainder of the baguette was intended to be distributed to homeless individuals. According to official regulations, a traditional French baguette should measure around 60 cm in length and weigh about 250 grams, made solely from wheat flour, water, salt, and yeast.

This record-breaking achievement not only showcases the skill and dedication of French bakers but also highlights the cultural significance of this iconic bread. It serves as a reminder that despite changing times and trends, some things remain timeless – like a perfectly flaky croissant or a crispy baguette straight from the oven.
