The Brooklyn Nets are currently in search for a new head coach after firing Jacque Vaughn in February. The team has been struggling this season and is currently sitting at the 11th spot in the Eastern Conference. Interim coach Kevin Ollie has not been able to turn things around for the team, prompting the need for a permanent head coach.

Three finalists have emerged as candidates for the position: Mike Budenholzer, Jordi Fernandez, and Kevin Young. Budenholzer, who was previously the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, led the team to an NBA title in 2021 before being let go after a disappointing playoff loss to the Miami Heat as the top seed in the Eastern Conference. Prior to joining the Bucks, Budenholzer coached the Atlanta Hawks for five seasons, leading the team to multiple playoff appearances and a 60-win season in 2014-15.

Fernandez is an associate head coach with the Sacramento Kings, while Young is an associate head coach with the Phoenix Suns. All three candidates bring their own unique experience and skill sets to the table as they vie for the opportunity to lead one of basketball’s most storied franchises.
