A man was arrested in Pinecrest, Florida, for threatening two men with a knife after getting offended by an off-color joke made at a sports bar. According to police reports, Sergio Luis Roman Jr. overheard the comment while in line for the men’s restroom at Corbett’s Sports Bar & Grill on South Dixie Highway just after 2 a.m.

The victim and his friends were joking about picking up girls when one friend made a racy comment about a 14-year-old. Roman became angry and confronted the group when he came out of the bathroom. He demanded to know what the joke was and threatened to harm them if they did not answer.

Roman then pulled out a knife and held it up to one of the victim’s faces, causing him to fear for his safety. The bartender intervened and tried to get Roman to drop the knife, but he continued to act aggressively with the weapon in hand. After a brief confrontation, the bartender and bar owner were able to disarm and restrain Roman.

On Friday, Roman voluntarily turned himself in to Pinecrest police headquarters and was subsequently taken into custody on two felony charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held in jail on a $5,000 bond and is no longer allowed on the premises of Corbett’s Sports Bar & Grill as per court order.
