Scarlett Johansson, the 2-time Oscar nominee, is in talks to join the reboot of Jurassic World at Universal. This information has been circulating for some time and now seems to be becoming a reality. The new project will see Johansson become involved in another major movie franchise, following her time as Black Widow at Marvel. During the 2021 pandemic release of Black Widow, Johansson sued Disney after the studio decided to simultaneously release the movie in theaters and on Disney+, impacting box office revenues. Eventually, the two parties reached a settlement.

Universal is fast-tracking the production of Jurassic World for a scheduled release date of July 2, 2025. David Koepp, who previously adapted the first Jurassic Park film from Michael Crichton’s novel, is writing the script for this latest installment. The new movie will bring a fresh perspective to the Jurassic era with cast members from previous Jurassic World films such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return. Additionally, actors from the original Jurassic Park trilogy like Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill are also not expected to appear in this new film.

Jurassic World will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley serving as producers under Kennedy-Marshall. Sara Scott, Executive Vice President of Production Development and Jacqueline Garell Creative Executive of Production Development are overseeing the production at Universal Studios.

Scarlett Johansson received Oscar nominations for Best Actress in Marriage Story and Best Supporting Actress in JoJo Rabbit both in 2020. InSneider first reported news of Johansson’s potential involvement in Jurassic World.
