Scarlett Johansson is making a comeback to franchises with her latest role in Universal’s new Jurassic World movie, set to be released on July 2, 2025. The news was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, indicating that the film is moving quickly in production. Gareth Edwards is directing the movie, with a script written by David Koepp, who previously worked on Jurassic Park.

Johansson has received two Oscar nominations for her performances in Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit. In addition to her work in Marvel Studios movies as Black Widow, she has showcased her talent in multiple other projects. She has also voiced a character in the upcoming animated feature Transformers One and has a big-budget film with Channing Tatum set to be released this year.

The Jurassic World franchise began with Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park in 1993 and has been going strong for over 30 years. It includes sequels like The Lost World (1997) and Jurassic Park III (2001) before being revived by the successful Jurassic World (2015). This revival led to sequels like Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Dominion (2022), with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard taking the lead roles. Colin Trevorrow oversaw the most recent trilogy of films, and the upcoming movie is expected to continue the legacy of this beloved franchise.

Overall, Johansson’s return to franchises marks an exciting development for both her career and for fans of the Jurassic World franchise.
