The Detroit High School Sports Awards, presented by Detroit Area Honda Dealers, has announced the nominees for Boys and Girls Basketball Players of the Year. This program is part of a nine-month student-athlete recognition program that will culminate in a red-carpet show this spring, honoring athletes, coaches, and teams from the greater Detroit region participating in Michigan High School Athletic Association sports.

During the live show on June 18 at The Fillmore Detroit, produced in partnership with the U.S. Army, nominees will be recognized along with players of the year for 27 other sports. Awards will also be presented for on- and off-the-field achievements, including a Courage Award, Coaches of the Year, Teams of the Year, and Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year honors. Complimentary tickets will be provided to all nominated athletes who RSVP, and guests can purchase tickets to the event.

Nominees for Boys Basketball Player of the Year include Markus Blackwell from Warren Lincoln High School, Mason Brodi from Utica High School, Ke’shawn Fisher from River Rouge High School, Trey McKenney from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Preparatory School, Jonathan Sanderson from Saline High School, and Tyler Spratt from North Farmington High School. These talented young men have demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication to their sport throughout the season
