On Thursday, April 6, 2024, the School of Public Health at the University celebrated its official opening in its new home in the renovated Edna S. Brigham Building. The occasion was marked by joy and pride as students, faculty, and members of the community gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and opening remarks from university leadership.

During his speech, President Sandoval highlighted the school’s impact on public health both locally and globally. He emphasized its role in preparing students for leadership positions in the field and commended its work in policy implementation, systemic change, health program development and evaluation, wide-scale service provision, and innovative research.

Dean Akpinar-Elci also spoke at the event, reflecting on the journey that led to the new building’s completion. She expressed gratitude for the collaborative effort that made it possible and praised those who went above and beyond to create a space where passion met purpose. She emphasized that success was a result of collective efforts from all involved.

The event served as a reminder of the School’s commitment to excellence and dedication to advancing public health through innovation and leadership training.
