In March, after spending two seasons with the New England Patriots, tight end Mike Gesicki signed a one-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals had a significant vacancy at the position following the departure of former tight end Hayden Hurst to the Carolina Panthers as a free agent last year. Despite playing in all 34 regular-season games over the past two years and having 73 catches for 780 yards with two touchdowns in 2021, Gesicki’s numbers have been on a decline. However, his new contract with the Bengals presents an opportunity for him to rebound in 2024.

According to quarterback Joe Burrow, Gesicki has been great for the team so far and is an explosive guy that he is excited to work with. He has also noted that Gesicki has been everything you can ask for on and off the field. The Bengals also have Tanner Hudson, Drew Sample, Erick All, and Tanner McLachlan on their roster at tight end. However, it seems like Cincinnati will continue to rely on Hudson and Sample as options for the position.

Burrow explained that he has built a dialogue with both Hudson and Gesicki and plans to continue building that relationship throughout this offseason so they can earn his trust. Similarly, he plans to continue building his dialogue with Sample and All so they can earn his trust as well. Burrow hopes that this translates to on-field success for all of them in 2024.
