The Padres’ victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Seoul Series was a result of Jake Cronenworth’s impressive performance at the plate. After his glove malfunction cost the Padres a game, Cronenworth redeemed himself with a 4-for-4 performance that included four RBIs and two runs scored, including a two-run triple in the first inning. This helped the Padres jump out to an early lead. Meanwhile, Yoshinobu Yamamoto had a forgettable debut as he lasted only one inning and allowed five runs on four hits for the Dodgers.

The Padres continued to build their lead as Mookie Betts led the Dodgers’ offense with an impressive performance. Betts hit the first home run of the 2024 season and won a new car thanks to MLB’s sponsorship deal with Hyundai. By the third inning, the Padres had built up a 9-2 lead, but the Dodgers fought back to make it 11-15 by game’s end. Manny Machado hit a home run in the ninth inning to seal the victory for San Diego.

Both teams will now return home to finish their spring training schedules before Opening Day on March 28. The Dodgers will face off against St. Louis Cardinals at Dodger Stadium, while San Diego Giants await them at Petco Park for their matchup against San Francisco Giants.
