Orlando City Commissioner Tony Ortiz is excited to announce the construction of a new downtown sports and entertainment district in the city. The 8.5-acre complex will be built next to the Kia Center at West Church Street and South Hughey Avenue, with construction set to begin in late 2024. The mixed-use project will include a hotel, 270 residential units, a 3,500-capacity live entertainment venue, office space, and a variety of dining and shopping options.

The sports and entertainment district will be developed by JMA Ventures, LLC and Machete Group, Inc., with completion expected by March 2027. The project is expected to create 3,400 jobs and bring new life to downtown Orlando.

Orlando Magic CEO Alex Martins expressed excitement for the project, highlighting the leadership of Mayor Dyer and the City Council. David Carlock, founder and principal of Machete Group, Inc., praised the city for its partnership and looks forward to developing a vibrant new place in downtown Orlando. The sports and entertainment district is seen as a game-changer initiative that will revitalize the downtown area.
